No More Glare

No Glare on Glasses

Okay, fellow glasses-wearers—if you’ve ever recorded a podcast or hopped on a Zoom call, you know the struggle: the annoying glare on your lenses that just won’t go away! Whether it’s from your ring light or your computer screen, that reflection is a real vibe killer.

Well, guess what? I’ve cracked the code. No more distracting reflections or glowing circles in my glasses, and you can fix it too—super easily. Here’s the story of how I figured it out, plus a few tips so you can say goodbye to that annoying glare for good!

The Great Glare Struggle

So, picture this: I’ve got a pretty sweet setup with natural light coming in from a big window in front of me and two more to my left. The lighting is great for my space but not for my glasses! All that light was bouncing around and creating a reflection nightmare. Add in my trusty ring light, and suddenly, I’m dealing with halos in my glasses and reflections from my computer screen. Total mess.

But after some experimenting (and a lot of frustration), I figured out how to keep the great lighting without any of the glare. And the best part? It’s a super simple fix!

The Fix: My No-Glare Lighting Hack

Here’s what I did to get perfect lighting without the reflections:

  1. Raise the Ring Light: The biggest game-changer was moving my ring light up high above me. Not just eye level—higher! This way, the light hits me perfectly, but it’s way out of range of my glasses, so no more bright circles on my lenses. It’s like magic. ✨
  2. Close the Windows: Natural light is awesome, but when you’re dealing with reflections, it’s a nightmare. So, I close my windows when I’m recording to stop light from bouncing around and hitting my glasses at weird angles. The room is still bright but without all the reflection drama.
  3. Even Lighting, No Shadows: Now that my ring light is up high, it’s doing all the work. It lights up my face evenly (no weird shadows under my chin or eyes), so I still look bright and professional but with zero glare on my glasses.

Why This Works: The Science (But Keep It Simple)

Here’s the quick version of why this hack works: light bounces. If your light hits your glasses at a straight angle, it’s going to reflect straight back, which is why you see that glare. By moving the light source up higher, the angle changes and the reflection disappears. It’s as simple as that!

And those windows? Well, light from different angles bouncing around the room just adds more chances for reflections. So, closing them cuts down on all those extra sources of bouncing light.

Bonus Tip: Watch Your Monitor!

Don’t forget your computer screen! It can reflect on your glasses too, so make sure it’s just below eye level or at an angle where it’s not shining right on your lenses. Trust me, this tiny tweak makes a big difference when you’re on camera.

Bye-Bye Glare, Hello Perfect Lighting

And that’s it! A few small adjustments, and now I can record podcasts or jump on Zoom without stressing about those distracting reflections on my glasses. I’ve got great lighting, no shadows, and—most importantly—no more glare. 🙌

Final Thoughts:

Give these tips a try, and I promise you’ll notice the difference. It’s not rocket science—just some smart tweaks to how light works in your space. And voilà! You’re ready to shine (without the extra shine on your glasses).

As always, I am cheering for you!
