Don’t Wait for Perfect Timing
How many times have you said to yourself or someone else, “The time just isn’t quite right.” Or “I’ll start _____ when _____ happens.” If you’re anything like me, the answer is “too many times.”
Why Waiting for the Perfect Time is Ill-Advised
The truth is, there is no such thing as the perfect time. Sure, there’s an ideal time, but perfection is an unattainable goal. I want you to consider what you could achieve if you weren’t waiting for the right timing. Are you waiting to quit a job you hate until your ultimate dream job comes along? Are you waiting to start an exciting new adventure until you’re perfectly financially stable?
Don’t Wait Until You Feel Motivated
Motivation is such an elusive creature, isn’t it? Some days I feel like I could take on the world, and others, the only thing I feel like I could take on is a new Netflix series. When I wait for motivation, I find myself not getting any closer to my goals. Sometimes, we just need to put on our adulting hat and do what needs to be done. Motivation will come when we start to see progress.
Be Honest with Where You’re At – Then Go For It!
If you were honest with yourself, could you successfully take that next step you’ve been dreaming about for a while? Could you quit the job with the terrible work environment and still make ends meet with a temporary solution until you find something better? Could you start that Appalachian Trail Hike you’ve always dreamed about even though you aren’t in 100% perfect condition? The answers to both are, probably, yes! It just depends on how badly you want to change.
There’s a difference between being reckless with your decisions and taking a calculated risk. I’m not encouraging recklessness, but I am hoping to push you outside of your comfort zone. Because that’s where adventure lies.
