Melanie’s professional career began in 2004 with the United States Navy. Melanie was trained at the Defense Information School (DINFOS) at Fort Meade, MD where she graduated at the top of her class. She received training in public affairs, print journalism, photojournalism, photography, television broadcasting, radio broadcasting, and various multimedia.

From late 2004 until 2006, she worked as the News Director for AFN Sasebo in Sasebo, Japan. There, she served as the anchor for the Sasebo Nightly News, radio deejay for AFN 1575 Thunder Radio’s classic rock radio show, travel show host and producer, script-writer, and special events emcee.

After taking some time off to raise and homeschool her daughter, Melanie returned to the world of communications in 2016 via advertising and social media presence for her home business. In 2017, Melanie graduated from Regent University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, with a focus on strategic communications.

Upon graduation, Melanie began to put her strengths as a clear communicator to good use by working as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher to children in China with VIPKid. Through this work she has engaged with over 500 students, teaching over 2,200 classes, and maintains a perfect parental feedback rating with the company.

In her spare time, Melanie volunteers as part of her church’s communications team where she writes scripts, delivers announcements, and serves on the creative media planning committee.
